Urban Connection After-School Academy (UCASA)
Mission statement for Children’s Programming: "To share the love of
God, while building a foundation for students to progressively and
actively start the pursuit of self-awareness."
We offer personalized tutoring, homework assistance, educational games and
enrichment activities children in grades K - 8. The ASA is a proud sponsor
of the
Peaceful Solutions program.
After School Academy opens for the 2007-2008 school year on Sept 4th,
2007, and will be open Monday through Thursday, 3:00 - 6:30 p.m. until May
1, 2008.
UCASA
Needs Volunteers to serve the 450+ youth
on our
property!
• Tutors to assist children with homework, 4:30 - 6:30 pm.
• Gardner to help children start a community garden called “Sprouts”
• Professionals to speak to children about what they do
• Van Driver to pick up children after school
• Kids Cafe server
• Computer monitors to oversee children on computers
• Playground monitors

Winter, Spring and Summer Kids Kamps
During
school breaks, we offer indoor and outdoor activities for children in
grades K - 6.

Emergency Food Pantry
Lincoln Courts residents
and those living in the surrounding community can receive food assistance
every 30 days. Open on Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Kids Cafe / Summer Food Service Program
In
partnership with the
San Antonio Food Bank and
America’s Second Harvest.
Kids Café is open
during the school year, Monday – Thursday from 4pm -5pm and serves hot
meals.
The
Summer Food Service Program is open during the summer months, Monday –
Friday 12:30 – 1:00pm and serves sack lunches.

School Supplies
At the beginning of every school year, we provide all
the necessary school supplies that our residents' school-aged children
need to succeed in the classroom. These supplies are also available to
residents throughout the school year.

Clothes Closet
We
operate a small clothes closet for those in need. We need your donations
of new and gently used items. To learn more,

Community Service Facility
In partnership with the City of San Antonio Youth
Services Division and the Bexar County Juvenile Probation office, UC-SA is
an approved site for teens and adults to complete court-ordered community
service. SAHA residents that are not working can complete their required 8
hours per month volunteer service at our facility.

Art Connection
The
families of Lincoln Heights Courts are exposed to a wide range of art
forms through collaborations with several local volunteer artists as well
as other non-profit organizations in the community. Programs are offered
in partnership with
SAY SI.

Urban Experience - San Antonio
A unique opportunity for suburban youth groups to live
in the inner city for a week while providing important services to the
children and families of Lincoln Courts.

Employment Circle
Provides Employment Readiness Training and job placement assistance to
SAHA residents.
The
Training consists of 32 classroom hours and 8 practical Application
Hours. The objective of the program is to prepare, inform and equip
residents with the necessary skills to successfully negotiate employment
opportunities. Participants learn, Workplace ethics, Customer Service and
effective communication, professional dress, job search techniques, resume
writing, skills on completing applications, and interview skills.

GED Prep
We
assist residents with preparation for the GED test. All participants are
tested prior to beginning.
Classes are small so that students can get the attention that is needed.
The classes run on the same cycle as regular school – August through May.
